A lovely evening with a light breeze, much appreciated by Crew, having spent the last few months being battered and bruised every time we went out sailing. Nanette had a good start and took an early lead closely followed by Calypso with Magic Dragon making up ground all the time. Moveable Ballast's helming was rather rusty and Mischief struggled through the rather choppy sea however his tactics paid off on the final run home from Stormforce to Hamble Point when he decided there was little difference in the tide strength on the direct course home over an inshore course. This also meant we could keep the wind on our quarter and so it was Mischief crept passed Calypso and Magic Dragon (we were also helped by them having a luffing match). Fearless who also sailed straight for the line, very nearly pipped them at the post as well! We finished as the sun disappeared, leaving a wonderful red/orange and purple sky but a dying wind so eventually we had to be towed in to our mooring against an ebbing tide in the dark. As I arrived at the RAFYC I saw the silhouette of a small dog but when it turned to acknowledge my greeting, it turned out to be a young fox cub!
