What a bizarre race full of incident. Mischief went aground beating out of the river and then had an an unfortunate bump with Pepper, Kathleen's traveller came off the track when she was in the lead and Magic Dragon had a first time crew on board who survived and even said they would love to come again! We beat out of the river with a south westerly and had to beat back up the river with a north easterly! The wind proceeded to move through 180 degrees during the race so that at one point we had a run down to a mark and as we tried to make the rounding the wind changed (Mischief was in irons at this stage!) and we had to hoist spinnakers again for a run back from whence we came! On another occasion Pepper was hard on the wind but a few hundred yards away Mischief and Kathleen had spinnakers up! It was a complete lottery not improved by some bitter rain showers - I don't know why we do it to our selves.
