An overcast chilly day with a strong blustery south westerly wind proved quite taxing especially as the race officers failed to note that William and William's Shipping were different marks in very different parts of the Solent!  There was a long hard beat through the Solent chop from HW Corp to Williams Shipping and back again, a good reminder of what to expect at Cowes.  Frits is  about to be handed a long 'to do'  list for Onward after Fumsey and his crew were reminded of the old adage that a frightened man with a bucket is the best pump  after discovering that the pumps did not work and various other systems left something to be desired.  Mischief had the cobwebs well and truly knocked out of her although this mainly applied to the crew -  moveable ballast was to be seen wedged on the floor at one point - neither moveable nor useful ballast!  However Nanette rose above these misfortunes and sailed away from the fleet and won by a country mile or at least a nautical mile or so.
